India has inked a deal, worth Rs 5,000 crore approximately, with US for the supply of 145 M777 ultra-light howitzers. These artillery guns are to be deployed near the Indo-China borders.
The letter of offer and acceptance has been signed by India in this regard, reports said.
The US is said to deliver first three M777 ultralight howitzers, out of 145, in the next three months to India.
After the Bofors scandal in 1980s, this is reported to be the first deal for artillery guns. US has signed this deal in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.
