The Supreme Court of India in a new ruling ordered that the national anthem should be played in theatres before commencing the movies. The apex court has given a one week time to imply the ruling in all the theatres of India.
The SC said everyone must respect the anthem or flag even on the screen. The court further said Indians these days don’t know how to sing the anthem.
“All people present in theatres must stand and pay respect to the anthem,” the top court said while delivering the order.
The ruling follows a petition by a NGO worker Shyam Narayan Chouksey on the alleged misuse of national anthem in TV and films.
