General Qamar Javed Bajwa has today officially taken charge as the 16th army chief of Pakistan during the change-of-command ceremony in Rawalpindi. He has succeeded General Raheel Sharif.
With handing over the command of the Pak army to Gen Bajwa at a ceremony in the Army Hockey Stadium near General Headquarters (GHQ), Gen Sharif retired as the Pakistan army chief.
In his farewell speech, Pakistan’s outgoing army chief Raheel Sharif left no opportunity to issue warning to India.
He said that in recent times India’s increasing terrorism and aggressive stance in Kashmir have endangered the region, adding, “India should know that mistaking our policy of patience for weakness would be dangerous.”
The newly appointed Pak army chief is said to be an expert in PoK affairs.
