PM Modi held talks with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in Tokyo, where in both the countries signed a landmark civil nuclear cooperation deal.
The agreement will encourage bilateral economic as well as security ties and will allow Japan to supply nuclear reactors, fuel and technology to India.
This is the first time where a country which hasn’t signed the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty has inked such a deal with Japan.
The agreement has come after several years of tough negotiations.
Other nations who have signed civil nuclear deal with India include several countries such as the US, Russia, South Korea, Mongolia, France, Namibia, Argentina, Canada, Kazakhstan and Australia.
