It is a home to a variety of flora and fauna along with India’s largest collection of tropical plants, lake.
Spread over 240 acres, it has also promoted and cultivated the concept of horticulture and is under the protection of Directorate of Horticulture.
The look and feel of the garden resembles a lot to Mughal gardens.
Its construction was started in 1760 during the reign of Hyder Ali; however, the garden came into form in later years as the construction was completed by Hyder Ali’s son ‘Tipu Sultan’.
There is a Lotus lake inside the garden apart from huge the Lalbagh Lake.
The garden remains open from 6:00 am -7:00 pm every day.
Entry fee is INR 20 for visitor’s above12. Free for walkers (Morning: 6:00 AM -9:00 AM, Evening- 6:00 PM -7:00 PM.
